| O estudo objetivou relacionar a colorimetria do epicarpo dos frutos com o teor de bixina em sementes de urucum (Bixa orellana L.). A bixina é utilizada em diversos segmentos industriais, como farmacêutico, têxtil, de cosméticos e alimentício. Os frutos foram colhidos de árvores adultas e classificados visualmente em quatro estádios de maturação com base na coloração externa do epicarpo. Após a segregação visual, mensurou-se a coloração do fruto com um analisador digital de cores. A caracterização inicial se deu através da morfometria das sementes e da determinação do teor de água. | Morphometric measurements of woody species are fundamental to support and adapt silvicultural practices. The essay aimed to estimate interdimensional relationships in 6 years old pure stands of P. dubium and P. rigida trees planted in a 2 x 1 m spacing using diameter at breast height of 1.3 m (DBH) as an independent variable. | The essay aimed to estimate fruit production of physic nut as a function of planting spacing and easily measured morphometric variables. Thirty 36 months old plants were randomly selected from a commercial plantation established on a 3 x 2 or 5 x 2 m spacing. Measurements per plant included height (ALT), number of primary branches (NG), average diameter of primary branches (DG), number of leaves (NFL), leaf area (AFL), number of fruits (NF) and fruit fresh biomass (MF). The largest values of NF , MF, AFL, NFL and DG were measured in plants from the 5 x 2 m. The estimation of number of fruits per plant (NF) from the two plant spacing can be obtained with plant height and leaf number using the model NF = -143,7611 + 91,32257*ALT - 0,14648*NFL + 0,0001*NFL2. |

| In this study, we sought to identify efficient enzymes for use in monitoring the deterioration and loss of germination of Balfourodendron riedelianum (Engler) Engler seeds. The research was conducted at the Laboratório de Tecnologia de Sementes e Mudas of the Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná, Campus Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná State, Brazil. | A rustificação objetiva expor as mudas a condições mais severas de manejo do que as adotadas na fase de crescimento a fim de torná-las mais tolerantes as adversidades do pós-plantio. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar o efeito da pulverização de concentrações de ácido jasmônico (AJ) em mudas de ipê roxo e guajuvira sobre a morfofisiologia e desempenho no campo.
